La Société Honoraire de Français
La Société Honoraire de Français was established through presidential order by the AATF in 1949. The aim of this organization is to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements, to create enthusiasm for and an understanding of Francophone culture and civilization, to promote and perpetuate international friendship, and to reward efforts toward furthering solidarity in the French-speaking world.
Requirements for Membership
o Students who entered high school at Level II must be currently enrolled in the fourth level or above of high school French. Those who began at French Level I in high school must be currently enrolled in French III or above. Transfer students from other school systems must have completed at least one semester of French at GHS.
o Have an A average in his/her current French course and 3.5 or higher cumulative average in all previous French courses.
o Have a 3.0 or higher overall GPA during semester of induction. French cannot be used to calculate this average.
o Be considered a student in good standing (attendance, behavior, etc) determined by the discretion of the language teacher.
o Pay a one-time initiation fee of $25, which covers both national and local dues for lifetime membership. (T-shirts, lanyards, charms, and other items may be purchased as desired.)
o Agree to serve as a peer tutor in French as needed.
o Membership shall be reserved to those students actively engaged in the study of French i.e. students currently enrolled in French III who qualify must be signed up for French IV for the following school year.
Note: Inductees must attend our spring induction ceremony completion of membership requirements.
