Bonjour! My name is Stephanie Hill or Madame to my students and I am one of two French teachers at Glacier High School. This is my eleventh year teaching French at GHS and I am excited to teach three levels at GHS (French I, French III, and AP French/Dual Enrollment French). I am also the advisor to French Club, National French Honor Society, and WAC (Wolfpack Acceptance Club). I also serve as the International Languages Activities Coordinator for Glacier. Additionally, I teach French 2 and 3 courses online through Montana Digital Academy and also teaching French 101 at Flathead Valley Community College.
Prior to teaching in Kalispell, I taught French to middle schoolers for three years in Janesville, Wisconsin. I am originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin and am a big fan of the Packers. I received my bachelor's degree in Education and French at St. Norbert College in De Pere in 2008, Wisconsin and my master's degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Montana-Missoula in 2014.
I have been very fortunate to have traveled to France and Francophone (French speaking) countries multiple times to experience the culture firsthand. I spent a semester studying in Lille, France as well as vacationing in the southern and eastern region. Additionally, I've taken school groups to France (Summer 2011, 2015, 2017), the French island of Martinique (Spring 2014), Spain (Summer 2015 and 2017), Switzerland, Monaco, and Italy (Summer 2017), Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Austria (Summer 2019), and Portugal and Spain (Summer 2022). I have been to the francophone countries of Quebec, Switzerland, Monaco, Martinique, and Belgium. Overall, I've been to 24 different countries (although not all of them speak French): Canada, Ecuador, Costa Rica, France, England, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco, Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Vatican City, Martinique, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Portugal, Panama, Colombia, and Australia. When I am not planning our next French adventure, I enjoy traveling (surprise, surprise!), reading, exploring Montana, baking, being with my family and friends, spending time with my husband and cats, and doing yoga.
Teaching French to my students is my passion. Ask me about it!
