Excellence in French Award
The "Téa"
Beginning in 2005, the AATF (American Association of Teachers of French) established a new award to recognize French students at all levels. At Glacier, the award can be given to any student at any level and it could be given prior to a student's senior year in the program. The Glacier award is named after it's first recipient, 2017 graduate Téa Mergenthaler.
To qualify for the award, a student must:
- have demonstrated excellence in the study French;
- be currently enrolled in French;
- have demonstrated commitment to the study of French by participating in extracurricular activities related to French which may include but are not limited to the Grand Concours, study abroad, National French Week activities, French Club, tutoring, etc.;
- be a non-native speaker of French;
- have overcome incredible obstacles to remain a leader and role model in the French program
- be nominated by an AATF member.
Students will receive a certificate acknowledging their award and a press release to distribute to local media; and a congratulatory letter will be sent to the principal. Students can also receive an Armes de Paris medal.
